Vinh Long, capital of the province of the same name, is located 100 km south of Ho Chi Minh City and 33 km north of Can Tho. Vinh Long is about halfway between My Tho and Can Tho.
It is also a city in the Mekong Delta that developed on one of the largest arms of the Mekong, the Co Chien. Vinh Long province looks like a diamond located in the center of the lower Mekong Delta.
