Saigon – Ho Chi Minh-CITY
Our tips in Saigon (HCM-city)
Saigon sits on the banks of the Saigon River. Located near the Mekong Delta, this city is the metropolis of the South of the country. It is emblematic of the process of metropolisation in Southeast Asia. It was originally only a Khmer fishing village and became from the 17th century a Vietnamese (and Chinese) city under the impetus of the imperial court of the Nguyens in Hue. Saigon is also known for its French colonial buildings, such as Notre-Dame de Saigon Cathedral, built entirely from materials imported from France, and the Central Post Office, dating from the 19th century.
