Mu Cang Chai

Our tips in Mu Cang Chai

Mù Cang Chải is a district of Yên Bái province in the northwest of Vietnam, about 300 km from Hanoi. Located at the foot of the Hoang Lien Son mountain range at an altitude of nearly 1000 m, the district benefits from a very diversified landscape, between mountains and rice terraces.

Mainly populated by the H’mong ethnic group (people from Yunnan province in southern China, settled in Vietnam for nearly two centuries), the district of Mu Cang Chai is an inspiring land: the H’mong have shaped this earth and adorned it with all its colors. They are notably at the initiative of the rice terraces, classified in 2007 as “national heritage”.

Our good deal

We recommend that stay one night with the locals or in a homestay, rather than at a hotel.
You will live a unique experience within an ethnic family and as close as possible to the magnificent rice terraces in order to better admire the sunset and/or the sunrise.
