Tam Coc is a village in northern Vietnam located in Ninh Binh province, about 90 km south of Hanoi.
Tam Coc, which means “three caves”, is the first tourist site in Ninh Binh province. The site is part of the Trang An landscape complex, which has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2014. Nicknamed the “terrestrial Halong Bay” because of its landscapes of sugar loaves and karst peaks planted in the amid rice paddies, similar to those of the famous maritime Halong Bay, Tam Coc is one of the most alluring destinations in northern Vietnam.

The best time to visit Tam Coc
The discovery of the region can be done almost all year round. However, the best time to travel to the region is between March and October when the rice paddies are at their best shades of green and yellow.
The months of March, April and May are best for discovering Tam Coc. You will have very good weather in April and in May the rice fields of the village of Tam Coc are covered with gold leaves! You will be able to navigate on the Ngo Dong river surrounded by rice ready to be harvested!
In September, October and November, the weather is fine. The hot and humid season is over and you can cycle around Tam Coc.
